Urgent Updates on Go Pro's / Head Cams
BRC Official Statement:

In light of the precautionary decision by British Eventing to prohibit the wearing of helmet cams with immediate effect. British Riding Clubs have also followed this measure in the interest of safety and welfare of riders and horses. This is to allow for the independent completion of expert research to be concluded. Therefore rule G22.6 is replaced with immediate effect (13:00 hrs 17/10/2014) as follows:

G22.6: Electronic Devices
No Receiving, recording, transmitting or monitoring device maybe used by a competitor during any phase of a competition. Head Cams are prohibited from use at any BRC affiliated competitions.

This decision will naturally cause some disappointment to those that use head cams to record their achievements but I am sure you will agree that safety has to be a top priority and it would be wrong to not take into account the current research and investigations on-going with the (TRL) Transport Research Laboratory. The ruling will be reviewed once the independent research is concluded.

Style Jumping - Page 46 - SJ2.6.1 Commencing
Having saluted to the judges, the competitor must canter a simple figure of eight showing a change of leg and then proceed to the first fence

Page 47 and on the score sheet - SJ2.9.2 Penalties
Remove penalty of elimination for leaving the arena before the second signal as the
new rules state that the round is finished once the rider is over the last fence

Page 50 - HT1.3.3 Tests
Remove the line: No horse trials tests at either area or championships may be commanded

Dressage
Half marks may be awarded for Dressage and Combined Training. Half marks will not be used when judging any Horse Trials dressage tests

Winter Dressage 2015 - the Prelim Dressage Test will be Prelim 18, not Prelim 17 as printed in the 2014 Rulebook

07/05/2014 - BS are changing the way they allocate winnings to horses, and have introduced a points system. This has some implications on the way we interpret the change within our rules, so we have put together the following statement to explain how BRC will work this change going forward

British Riding Clubs will not be changing the eligibility limits for its show jumping classes in the light of British Showjumping’s move to points from Notional winnings. BRC Novice show jumping competitions will be set at zero points, & Intermediate at 175 points. What BRC will be doing is discounting any points that have been awarded for double clears, as well as continuing to ignore any points gained in the 70 & 80cm intro / starter classes. These as well as the other changes made by BS will be assessed by the Competitions Sub Committee in time for the 2015 rulebook
