Grassroots Dressage Sunday 19th March, Wittering Academy - Schedule

AREA 7 THOROGOOD MEMORIAL GRASS ROOTS COMPETITION 2015
ALL RIDERS MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF AN AREA 7 RIDING CLUBS

AIMS
1. TO ENCOURAGE RIDERS TO PROGRESS AT THEIR OWN PLACE AND LEVEL
2. TO PROMOTE THE ETHOS OF BRITISH RIDING CLUBS-RIDE TOGETHER, TRAIN TOGETHER, COMPETE TOGETHER, HAVE FUN TOGETHER
3. TO ENABLE RIDERS COMPETE WHO WISH TO COMPETE AT LOWER LEVELS WHICH ARE CURRENTLY NOT CATERED FOR WITHIN BRITISH RIDING CLUBS AREA QUALIFIER AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

SPECIFIC RULES
1. Combination of horse and rider not to have competed Affiliated at any level in the relevant discipline. Combined Training—you may have competed at BD Affiliated but NOT BS
2. Combination of horse and rider not to have competed at BRC Championships in the relevant discipline
3. Combination of horse and rider not to have been placed at Area level in the relevant discipline.
4. Horses to have 0 BE points for ODE and Hunter trial classes.
5. Horses to have 0 BD points for Intro level.
6. Any combination of horse and rider which do not fit these criteria may apply to the Down Grading committee which will include the Area Rep (David Clarke) , the Grass Roots organiser (Rosemary Batten) Rachael Stevenson and Steve Gifkin for dispensation.
7. Correct Flu vaccination records will be encouraged but the BRC rule will be followed in a lenient manner and riders made aware and advised to make their Flu Vaccinations correct to BRC standards
8. Hat and Body Protectors MUST conform to current BRC Standards
9. Tack and riders dress will be to BRC rules with the exception at Dressage Intro level and Riding Test as stated in our Dressage/ Riding Test rules
10. For 2016, this is an INDIVIDUAL competition only.
11. Points will be awarded at each qualifying competition as follows:

  • 1st. 7 points
  • 2nd 6 points
  • 3rd 5 points
  • 4th 4 points
  • 5th 3 points
  • 6th 2 points.
  • EVERY RIDER taking part in a Grass Roots class will receive 1 point.
    • RESULTS OF QUALIFIERS
      1. All clubs hosting a qualifier MUST send the results to Rosemary Batten as soon as possible after the event WITH THE FULL NAME OF Horses and riders and the Club they represent (rosebatten@aol.com)
      2. Please also notify Rosemary if they are JUNIOR or SENIOR
      3. Rosemary will keep a spreadsheet of all points gained.

      ENTRIES
      1. NO Preliminary Entry fees will be required. Entry fee to the organising Club must be paid.
      2. All Area 7 Clubs holding a Grass Roots competition MUST advertise it to ALL Area 7 Clubs via Area 7 Website and e mail
      3. Entry fees will be set by individual clubs hosting a qualifier.

      PRIZES.
      1. The Yvonne Thorogood Memorial trophy to the winner of the JUNIOR Points league. To be held for 1 year
      2. The Stan Thorogood Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the SENIOR Points league. To be held for 1 year.
      3. Championship Rosettes will be awarded to 1st-10th in each league.
      4. 1st-3rd will also receive a Sash.
      5. If we can get sponsorship, there may be other prizes. Please contact Rosemary if you know anyone who would sponsor this please.

      DRESSAGE
      1. Dressage will comprise of Intro Test and Preliminary Test.
      2. Horses to have 0 BE points for Intro level.
      3. Any horse/ rider combination who have been placed 1st-4th at Preliminary level or higher at any unaffiliated show may NOT compete in the Intro test class
      4. TACK will be to BRC rules with the EXCEPTION of Intro, where riders may ride in any bit but will carry a 5 point penalty if it is not to BRC rules

      SHOW JUMPING
      This class to be held over two rounds as follows. There are two classes available as follows:
      1. Class 1. First round will be 60cm. Second round 70 cm.
      2. Class 2 First round at 70cm. Second round at 80cm.

      COMBINED TRAINING
      There are two classes available as follows:
      1. One class at Intro with 60cm show jumping.
      2. One class to be held at Preliminary level with 70cm show jumping.

      RIDING TEST
      1. All riders to ride a BRC Preliminary Riding Test
      2. Riders may ride in any bit but will carry a 5 point penalty if it is not to BRC rules

      HUNTER TRIALS.
      There are two classes available as follows:
      1. Hunter Trial at 60cm.
      2. Hunter trial at 70cm.

      ONE DAY EVENT.
      One class only at 70cm. A simple preliminary level dressage test and show jumping at 70cm.
